The zoning hearing notice depicted in photo attachments is for an appeal hearing to rezone 13 acres of land land west of the JSH hospital. This rezoning application was already turned down on April 4 by a unanimous vote of our local zoning board 14. Now, despite the local 5-0 **NO** vote (we count for nothing ! ), the developer, on appeal, will likely get his way when seeking approval via the entire Miami-Dade County Commission.
This zoning appeal has been scheduled for 6/20/2019 in the Commission meeting room downtown. Owing to travel requirement, and the fact that each attending person only gets TWO minutes to voice their opinion, our local residents are very likely to lose this battle, and will soon be saddled with many hundreds more cars entering SW 152 Street from a huge nursing home/medical office facility planned for this land.
Now, to add insult to injury, the County has not properly posted required notices for this 6/20/19 appeal hearing. Several different individuals have made multiple phone calls requesting that two damaged signs be re-posted– this requesting over about two weeks now. For that reason, we submitted a formal request to the County yesterday afternoon (June 10) asking that this appeal hearing meeting be postponed. Now, some 19 hours later we have not heard a peep from the County about our request, and the damaged zoning hearing signs are still on the ground as of noon.
Would you like to participate in DEMANDING that this County get its act together?
If so, please call and/or e-mail the following parties requesting that the hearing signs be properly posted and/or that the Z2018000144 appeal hearing be postponed.
County Mayor: 305-375-5071 — firstname.lastname@example.org
Commissioner Moss: 305-245-4420 — DennisMoss@miamidade.gov
Commissioned Cava: 305-375-5218 — District8@miamidade.gov
MDC Zoning Department (they post the hearing signs [LOL]): — 305-375-1244 or 305-375-2640
NOTE: It seems amazing, but one is not allowed to influence a Commissioner about a specific zoning issue BEFORE the zoning hearing is in progress, so make sure just to emphasize that this hearing has not been properly announced. If you have to say something about the issue itself, simply say that our community doesn’t want ANYTHING more built along SW 152 Street
